Let's all together turn on the lights!
We are looking for gold sponsors who will offer 1,000 euros each for the development of the courtyard area of the Water Center for People with Autism.
Action Short Description
Through the Lights On campaign, we aim to raise public awareness of the need to complete the new Centre for People with Autism.
Merimna Paidiou Katerinis is the only association in the region of Pieria providing services for people with disabilities. It currently operates two Day Care Centres (KDIF), supporting more than 100 adults with disabilities.
The existing Day Care Centres operated by Merimna Paidiou Katerinis are:
• One centre located at the intersection of Mytika and Heras Streets, with a capacity of 90 people.
• One centre located at 19 Maiou Street, with a capacity of 25 people.
Recognising the need for specialised support for people on the autism spectrum, Merimna Paidiou Katerinis began construction of a third Day Care Centre in 2024, exclusively dedicated to people with autism, in the southern part of the town. The new centre will offer specialised programmes based on their needs, with an emphasis on alternative and structured communication methods, as well as dedicated programmes promoting socialisation and independence.
The first ‘’step’’ of the building’s construction was completed thanks to funding from the Ministry of Rural Development and Food through the LEADER programme, implemented by Pieriki Anaptixiaki. This achievement was also made by our Gold Sponsors, as well as every supporter of the project, whose contribution has been very important for our achievement. Everyone’s support is invaluable and represents a tangible expression of social awareness and solidarity, making a meaningful contribution to create our new Centre.
Despite the significant progress had made, part of the project remains outstanding: the outdoor area. Its development has not begun yet, as the necessary funding has not yet been found. Completing this space is a goal we will pursue in the next phase, ensuring that the new Centre has a functional and safe outdoor environment.
Our campaign, entitled “Lights On – Together, We Will Turn on the Lights at the New Centre for People with Autism,” continues. Thanks to your boundless love and generosity, we are now working towards our next goal: completing the development of the Centre’s outdoor area.
So…. Lights_on and let's all together turn on the lights of the new Daily Center for Autism

Beneficiary: Charitable Organization Katerini Child Care Association
Short Description of Institute
The "Katerini Child Care Association" is a non-profit organization, a legal entity, which was founded in 1979 as a result of the will of a group of individuals who were not afraid of the diversity. The perception that issues concerning people with disabilities should be addressed in a charitable manner is outdated and inappropriate in modern societies. Members of societies must, through active participation, systematically utilize their potential and support vulnerable groups.
Our vision is an inclusive society, a society for all, not for some, not for the most powerful. Because everyone can!
The purpose of the association is to promote, by every appropriate means, efforts for the maximum possible restoration of the mental, spiritual and physical balance of People with Disabilities, so that their full and smooth acceptance and integration into the social environment can occur.
