Action Short Description
With the campaign Lights_on we want to raise awareness in society about the need to complete our construction concerning a new Daily Care Center for people with Autism.
The ‘’Child care of Katerini’’ (Merimna paidiou Katerinis) is the one and only Association that provides services to People with Disabilities in the Region of Pieria.
Our Association is operating 2 Daily Care Centers providing support to more than 100 Adults with Disabilities.
The centers are located:
-In Mytika & Ira street accommodates 90 adults
- In 19th May street accommodates 25 adults.
Realizing the need for special support to people with Autism our Association decided at 2024 to construct our third Daily Center exclusively for People with Autism on the South Side of Katerini. The new Center will provide personal plans tailored to the needs of each one, emphasizing to alternative methods of communication, individual program of socializing themselves and living autonomy.
The first part of our project concerning the construction is already underway and is financed by the program ‘’LEADER 2014-2015 PIERIA REGION-PIERIA DEVELOPMENT S.A. Local.Goverment.Area’’
However, only the 50% will be completed and a significant amount of 200,000 euros remains to complete our project, and we are looking for 200 Golden Donors who will offer 1,000 euros each one, so we will achieve to complete the project.

The "Katerini Child Care Association" is a non-profit organization, a legal entity, which was founded in 1979 as a result of the will of a group of individuals who were not afraid of the diversity. The perception that issues concerning people with disabilities should be addressed in a charitable manner is outdated and inappropriate in modern societies. Members of societies must, through active participation, systematically utilize their potential and support vulnerable groups.
Our vision is an inclusive society, a society for all, not for some, not for the most powerful. Because everyone can!
The purpose of the association is to promote, by every appropriate means, efforts for the maximum possible restoration of the mental, spiritual and physical balance of People with Disabilities, so that their full and smooth acceptance and integration into the social environment can occur.
